Electricity That Is Eco-Friendly at the Same Time

It has been centuries since the discovery and distribution of electricity to houses and commercial buildings in order to provide heat and light. Electricity is also supplied to industries or other electric based equipments. Electricity has given us too much benefit up to now as it is very much needed in our homes and it is being used everyday, it became one of the most valuable necessities in our daily lives. With the help of appliances and the comfort and aid that we get from them, we have become very dependent on them and electricity. But with the benefits we get from electricity, what we do not know is the generated electricity we are using is polluting our environment. The coal, oil and any natural gas that were harvested by electric companies represent the solar energies that were stored here on earth. The fossil fuels have also been a big factor to us in terms of energy production as it has provided us with energy through the years. During the 2002 energy survey power consumption, only about 40% of energy was generated to make electricity while about 30% of it went to transportation.

In America, nearly half of their generated electricity comes from coals that were burned in order to create heat. The produced heat that came from the burned coal is then converted mechanically by heat engines or electromechanical generators. The mechanically converted electricity is then sent to power lines for the distribution of electricity in an area. The electricity that was produced or generated is allocated straight into a power grid making the electricity lose 20% of its energy causing the energy to waste about 25% of its total power. Most of the appliances that we are using today are somewhat incompetent when it comes to electricity consumption. The motors that run certain appliances runs at a little above 50% efficiency thus producing more heat that is then blown by fans outside the machine ran by electricity. With the technology that we have nowadays, solutions as to how we can help our environment are very possible to achieve. There are other alternatives in producing electricity to supply our needs. The heat of the sun is a natural source of energy where we can generate energy to produce electricity. The solar energy of the sun can be harnessed by using solar panels and then storing the harvested energy to huge batteries or power generators to create electricity.

Another type of environment friendly energy system is the wind turbine generator or otherwise called as windmills. This type of energy system, like the solar panel, draws energy from a natural source. The windmills, from the word wind it self, is capable of generating electricity from wind. It almost has the same mechanism as the solar panel, it harvests energy with the use of an efficient equipment and then stores it into batteries or use it directly by connecting the gathered energy directly to the power box or the main circuit lines.
